Mrs. Barkley spoils us!! Today, she made Rice Crispy Pumpkins for our snack. Thank you, Mrs. Barkley!! You're the best!!
This week we are learning about Spiders. We've learned several interesting facts about them and today we made our own spiders. They're hairy tarantulas covered with coffee grounds. Creepy!! (but the hallway smells good!!)
This week was Red Ribbon Week. We had several fun activities for the week. Each day was a dress up day: Monday was Put Drugs to Rest (wear pi's or sweats). Tuesday was Be a Hero and Say No to Drugs (dress like your hero). Wednesday was Don't Let Drug Mess Up Your Head (wear crazy hats or messy hair). Thursday was Team Up Against Drugs (wear your favorite sports team shirt). Friday was Say Boo To Drugs (wear a costume or orange/black). During the week, our school counselor, Mrs. Engstrand, came in to our classroom and read a book about Red Ribbon Week. We also made a poster that we held up in front of the school building each morning as students arrived. Our poster was a minion that said "Drugs are Despicable". On Thursday, several students from the high school came to our classroom and talked about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. Here are a few photos from this week:
On Friday, the first grade class at Eisenhower went on a field trip to Walter's Pumpkin Patch in Burns, Kansas. The students had a great time and so did several of the adults! In addition to the hayride and picking pumpkins, students enjoyed jumping on the giant pillows, sliding on the different slides, visiting the animals, riding the tricycles, and several of the other activities at the pumpkin patch. The weather turned out to be beautiful as well, so it was a great day! Thank you to all those who were able to attend. We hope you enjoyed your day with us!
The Wellington Fire Department came to Eisenhower today to talk to our students about fire safety. After the presentation, the students each received coloring books, crayons, and stickers. Thank you, Wellington Fire Department!
