This week, we have been learning about apples. We've learned how apples grow and that there are several types of apples. Today we learned about Johnny Appleseed and made puppets. We also did a taste test and sampled 3 different kinds of apples. Before we began tasting, several students said that RED apples were their favorite apples; however, as the results from the taste test show -- it's YELLOW apples that were the class favorite!!

Today, we had some special presentations from Mrs. Heasty's 5th grade class. The 5th graders have been working on weather safety posters and came today to present their projects. They did a great job teaching us about storms and tornadoes. At the end, they handed out chocolate tornadoes (Hershey kisses). Thank you, 5th grade!!
Friday, September 11th was Grandparent's Day in 1st grade. We had several of our grandparents come visit for our special program. The students performed three songs: Welcome To School, Tooty Ta, and My Mother Is A Baker. Then, the students presented their grandparents with a special gift they had made for them. At the end, the grandparents and students were able to enjoy refreshments while they visited our classroom. It was a great day! Thank you all for coming and sharing in our special day!
